An intelligent remote terminal unit with unified TM/TC interface for micro scale satellites
The NANOif-2 interface board represents an intelligent remote terminal unit for interconnection of satellite’s on-board sensors, instruments, or payloads into a seamless and unified NANOsky on-board data handling architecture. The NANOif -2 RTU represents the second generation of SkyLabs’s flight proven equipment for the emerging space market. Its fault tolerance by design provides remarkable reliability and robustness against SEE. Fault tolerance is assured by the SkyLabs’ radiation harness assurance, that is based on a delicate component selection process and their radiation characteristics and flight heritage, latch-up protection by constant current monitoring and several other mitigation techniques. The NANOif-2 is powered by PicoSkyFT processor, which furthermore increases operational reliability. Several intelligent built-in functions enable the use of the NANOif-2 RTU as a fully autonomous system, making the acquisition and conditioning of satellite sensors data practically autonomous. NANOlink-2 represents a key subsystem in the NANOsky 2nd generation platform due to its performance enchantments, its multifunctional architecture and various interfaces available.
Features
The NANOif interface board represents an integrated approach to support different dedicated systems in the context of the NANOsky I platform. It provides the capability to interconnect other supplier’s equipment with unified NANOsky I TM/TC on-board data handling interfaces. NANOif-2 support several higlly configurable user interfaces, as discrete ADC channels, Digital Input/Output, or communication links as UARTs, RS422/485, SPIs, I2Cs, and auxiliary CAN. All the interfaces are seamlessly transformed into a standard NANOsky I TM/TC redundant CAN bus interface. The translation of user interfaces is performed in a way to provide maximal RTU independence to the user’s higher protocols.

Software support
NANOif-2 has a flight proven functionality. It is delivered with skyEGSE-GUI application to enable user immediate out of the box control, monitor and management of the equipment.
NANOif-2 is compliant with optional NANOsky CMM™ SDK that provides all functions to support controlling, monitoring and management of NANOif-2 equipment. All functions are provided in a comprehensive C++ library, with application-level examples for fast prototyping or functionality integration to a third-party software. This enables users a drastic savings in the development time for integration of SkyLabs equipment functions into customer specific EGSE, AIV/T or even MOC software.
