NANOlink-boost Gen2
NANOlink-2 (2nd Generation)
Miniaturised full-duplex TM/TC communication subsystem in S-Band frequency spectrum and CCSDS compliant
NANOlink-2 is a highly miniaturised TM/TC satellite communication subsystem. It provides a full duplex satellite communication link and thus enables improved communication data link budgets. Its best-in-class SWaP (Size, Weight and Performance) characteristics assure the NANOlink-2 outstanding performance for the emerging space market. The NANOlink-2 has embedded intelligence, powered by PicoSkyFT, contributing directly to the overall satellite system functionality. Several intelligent built-in functions enable the use of the NANOlink-2 as a fully autonomous system, making the acquisition of satellite diagnostic data practically autonomous. NANOlink-2 represents a key subsystem in the NANOsky 2nd generation platform due to its performance enchantments, its multifunctional architecture and various RF configurations.
Features
Highly miniaturised, NANOlink-2 features in-orbit programmable SDR architecture, which enables the incorporation of standard or customer specific modulation schemes. High reliability is ensured via carefully selected parts and combined with an advanced FDIR approach that supervises the SDR logic and other critical parts of the subsystem. Its fault tolerance by design provides remarkable reliability and robustness against SEE. Fault tolerance is assured by redundancy on the component level and their flight heritage, latch-up protection by constant current monitoring and several mitigation techniques. The NANOlink-2 is powered by PicoSkyFT to further enhance the safe operation of its processing functions. The full duplex communication subsystem is compliant with the CCSDS protocol, while supporting configurable modulation parameters and data rates. A highly efficient add-on RF amplifier module is available which boost the RF output power and together with NANOlink-base functions is integrated it a NANOlink-boost. The architecture can be further expanded with the addition of a diplexer/combiner with integrated LNA, together forming the variant NANOlink-boost-dp. NANOlink-2 features standard TM/TC channel via redundant CAN buses and a high speed LVDS interface.
NANOlink-base consists of the following features:
- Adjustable SDR-based transceiver
- RF power output of up to 31 dBm
- LNA on the receive path
- SDR Processing Unit in a reprogrammable DSP-oriented FPGA
- Interface and Control Unit in a robust FPGA system
- NVM memory storage for HSK TM logs
- Comprehensive local subsystem telemetry (currents, voltages, temperatures, etc.)
- Interfaces:
- Dual LVDS or RS422 interface links
- Redundant CAN interface for TM/TC
- Optional 8 GPIOs with interface remapping capability (SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO)
with variant NANOlink-boost:
- Additional PA to boost RF output power to 37 dBm
with variant NANOlink-boost-dp:
- A splitter/combiner on two antenna ports
- A diplexer interfaces to the splitter/combiner
- An additional TX filter
- An additional RX filter coupled with an LNA
Software support
NANOlink-2 has a flight proven functionality. It is delivered with skyEGSE-GUI application to enable user immediate out of the box control, monitor and management of the equipment.
NANOlink-2 is compliant with optional NANOsky CMM™ SDK that provides all functions to support controlling, monitoring and management of NANOlink-2 equipment. All functions are provided in a comprehensive C++ library, with application-level examples for fast prototyping or functionality integration to a third-party software. This enables users a drastic savings in the development time for integration of SkyLabs equipment functions into customer specific EGSE, AIV/T or even MOC software.
